History of Divalicious "Eatertainment"

When great tastes, put a smile on your face,
And the show, is so good you could crow,
And the songs, got ya singing along,
That's eatertainment!!!

THAT'S "EATERTAINMENT"!
In 1999, as a publicity stunt, singer and chef Jackie Gordon decided to create the dinner show of dinner shows and stage it for the public. Fed up with the mediocre, maligned, unloved "fodder" commonly masquerading as food at dinner shows and dinner theater, she thought, "Let's do something earth shattering and make the food really good." She went a bit further by making the "dinner" not only as good as the show, but by creating a show that is a multi-sensory celebration of food.

She calls it "eatertainment."

  SHE'S COOKIN' AND SINGIN'
Using the cuisine as her guide, she devises a feast of passionately prepared, delicious food. As hostess, she introduces each course with a humorous look at food history and culture, followed by hand picked musical performances to ease the dining along. The evening climaxes with Jackie's transformation from hostess to songstress, capping off the feast with a stunning performance for her guests. The audience leaves well sated, knowing it doesn't get much better than this!

  FINGER CLICKIN' CHICKEN
Her debut "eatertainment show" was "The Fried Chicken Theory According to Jackie Gordon". Jackie's simple theory is that people who make beautiful soul music grew up on soul food and the energy and spirit that fuels the music can be sourced in the food. So she provides the opportunity for attendees to experience the food and the music in one outstanding evening.

A mouthwatering feast of soul food, is set to the strains of a heavenly gospel choir, a swinging jazz ensemble and heart wrenching vintage soul sets by the diva of deliciousness herself, Jackie Gordon and her band, More Than A Mouthful. Between courses, Jackie regales the audience with tales from her family's culinary memoirs, the roots of soul food and the connection between some of America's best loved singers and what they ate.

  WHAT'S COOKIN'?
Jackie is back in New York with her new company, Divalicious, Inc. Her first critically acclaimed New York "eatertainment" show, sayCHEESE!: a tongue-titillating tasting of artisanal cheeses, wines and the songs they inspire, ran for 7 weeks, in spring 2004. Jackie found herself in the chocolate fountain rental business and recently opened Divalicious Chocolate! Cafe at 365 Broome Street, New York City, 212 343 1243. She is also available for corporate chocolate tastings.
