Brownies By Post - Jackie sat next to Eileen Spitalny, the owner of Fairytale Brownies, at a conference. When Jackie mentioned that her grandmother had enjoyed a profile on Eileen's company on Food TV's "Food Finds", Eileen generously offered to send Grandma some brownies. And she did — a Mother's Day dozen! Grandma was thrilled. The brownies were really good, made with Belgian chocolate and a variety of toppings. And well priced. Order your own at www.brownies.com or by calling 800.324.7982. Don't forget to say, "Hi". from Grandma.

Whip Up Something New - While perusing one of the most extensive collection of cookbooks available for sale in the free world, at Kitchen Arts and Letters, in New York, the Divalicious one picked up their newsletter. It lists their new cookbooks and it's available by e-mail. No website, but you can e-mail them at kalstaff@rcn.com and they will put your name on their mailing list, so you will always be on top of the latest, greatest and tastiest. If you need to know anything cookbook related, call Nach Waxman and his staff at 212.876.550. They are very informative and very nice too (1435 Lexington Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10128).

Feel like some "Asian" in New York? - Jackie may have been Asian in a previous life. She is a rice addict. She got very excited when she found the Asia Society's website link, "Asia in New York". It features many things related to Asian culture and travel in New York, but Jackie naturally honed in on the Food and Drink page. From Afghani to Vietnamese, you'll find a list of restaurants put together by folks in the know.

Cheese-istry - As some of you may know, the first Divalicious Eatertainment show in New York will be "Say Cheese", a tongue-titillating tasting of artisanal cheeses, wines and the songs they inspire. On her first foray into the world of New York cheese royalty, Jackie had the good fortune to meet Terrance Brennan. He took her on a tour of his impressive new Artisanal Cheese Center (ACC) on 37thSt. and 10th Avenue. In addition to cheese classes, tastings and an event space, this facility houses the only cheese-maturing caves in the United States. ACC has five of them, so each group of cheeses is stored NAKED — meaning not wrapped in plastic — and matured in an optimum environment. Their selection of 250 of the world's finest cheeses is available at http://www.artisanalcheese.com.

Aged Chocolates? - Now that's two words you rarely hear together — most chocolates don't hang around that long. Plus the words "aged" and "chocolates" conjure up an image that is simultaneously unsightly and tragic. So most of us tend to not consider how long they were around before they got to us . . . and it would probably be best not to start now.

But what about the words "fresh chocolates"? Mmmmm — that's a much prettier picture. There's a tiny shop in Soho where a woman named Kee hand-makes chocolates daily. They are so fresh and delicious, she can barely keep them in stock and the afternoon we visited she only had white chocolate ones left. I managed to suffer a pistachio encrusted white chocolate truffle with a creamy pistachio filling. We heard she makes a creme brulee truffle that is to die for, but I never make it in time. Her chocolates have a two week shelf life so they can't and don't keep. Be sure to get there early to get a good selection or call and order ahead of time. Chocolate Garden, 80 Thompson Street, New York, N.Y., 10012, PH: 212.334.3284

For The Love Of Eating - For Jackie, growing up in pre-restaurant revolution Boreum Hill (yes there was a long time when Smith Street was pretty much a food wasteland) was not very tasty. Thank God for Sahadi's! Now a South Brooklyn food-stitution and winner of the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT ) Outstanding Retailers of 2003 award, Sahadi's was a beacon of deliciousness during those darker days.

This fantastic store on Atlantic Avenue imports a huge variety of food items from around the globe — candies, cheeses, nuts, fruits, olive oils, olives, grains, spices, teas, coffee, wonderful and consistently good prepared foods, and sooooo much more! It's family run since 1948, so there is always a Sahadi in the house. Great prices — they pride themselves in giving good value.

You can order gift baskets and some items on their website, www.sahadis.com, but it doesn't hold a candle to actually going to the store, gasping at the selection, grabbing a ticket and getting one of the servers to help you fill your basket. It can be a zoo on Saturdays and during the holiday season, but totally worth it. They're located at 187-189 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn between Court and State Streets, 718.643.4413. Get Business Cards

Your Offset Family - When Jackie walked into Nobel Printing on 27th Street with a dream of designing and producing her own business cards, it was like coming home. Elsy, the mom, and her son, Danny, took her by the hand and helped make it happen. Plus, they did so for a really good price. When Danny came in, especially to print her cards, on Christmas Eve, Jackie wondered, "Nobel or Noble?" They specialize in custom boutique printing, business cards, letterhead, stationery. Nobel Printing, 122 West 27th Street, New York, NY, 10001, 212.620.0540, nobelptg@aol.com .
