The American Women's to the Royal Children's Hospital is located
in Melbourne, Australia and is comprised of American women who either
live in Australia permanently or are here temporarily as their job
or that of their partner's transports them around the world. Our
Auxiliary is a vital component of the fundraising efforts for the
Royal Children's Hospital which is a major medical facility serving
not only Australia, but also the Asia-Pacific region. We consistently
raise over $100,000 a year for the purchase of much-needed, major
equipment.
The major event on our fundraising calendar is our annual American
Independence Day Ball. To maximize the monies going to the Hospital,
we seek the donation of goods, services and time for all the event
encompasses.
Jackie Gordon was the featured performer at our Ball in 2001.
It is rare that someone of her calibre comes forward with an immediate
'yes' to help a cause. Her ability to step into the spotlight and
captivate an audience on the first note is spellbinding. Jackie
can deftly sweep up the room and take them on a musical journey
- and at the end of the journey all are left wanting to saunter
down the path again without end. Her gift comes from the heart and
she is most generous in sharing it to benefit the littlest voices
of all - children.
