THE PRESS:

"Gordon conveys her passion for wine and cheese through humorous patter, slides, original songs, cabaret classics while the audience samples and rates pairings such as California Cabernet and artisanal cheddar. . . "

REVIEW: "Food has been an ongoing subject in the theater this year, and the big kahuna in that department is Chef's Theater at the ritzy Supper Club. As we wrote in an earlier column, that show is really about the cuisine; the entertainment is essentially an afterthought. Happily, we've just come upon a much better mix of taste and talent in Say Cheese! . . . "

REVIEW ", . . . the show begins with a rendition of songs (Including the heartfelt" If I Could Date Cheese") by the talented Gordon, who is clad in a fabulous hand-made, cheese themed gown. . . the audience samples a cheese with each of the two reds and two whites provided. The Gordon moves on to what is probably the best part of the show. . . "

Do we eat during the show?
Absolutely. Jackie is probably one of the only singers who encourages people to "Eat!" while she is singing. Jackie talks about each cheese then sings a song that she's matched to a characteristic of each one. While she's talking and singing the audience tastes the cheese with the four wines and notes their pairing in their programs.

How is the show educational?
The audience learns about the history of cheese and it's migration to America. They learn about, and taste, the various styles, characteristics, production and maturation of artisan cheeses as well as how to taste wine with cheese. Each audience member will receive a program with a tasting note section where they can rate the cheeses and wines they taste during the show. While Jackie is talking and singing about each cheese, you pair them with the four wines. After each song, audience members get the opportunity to share their favorite pairings.

The program contain information about choosing, combining, storing and appreciating fine cheeses along with recipes and wine tips too.

  Which cheeses are you serving?
We are serving examples of the following styles of cheese: a fresh cheese, soft-ripened rind, washed rind, natural rind, blue veined, uncooked, pressed, and cooked, pressed. We prefer to keep the names of the cheeses a surprise until the show. If you need to know the names of the cheeses prior to the show e-mail us and we'll send you the list.
Which brands of wine are you serving?
The wines are supplied by Diageo Chateau & Estate Wine Companies: Barton & Guestier Chateauneuf du Pape (France);Trimbach Riesling (Alsace); Beaulieu Vineyards Rutherford Cabernet (California); Sterling Vineyards North Coast Chardonnay(California).
How many glasses of wine are included?
You start with four tasting sized glasses of all four wines and the staff tops up on request .
Will alternatives to alcohol be served?
Water, in this case Evian, an essential component of the tasting will be served, as well as soft drinks and juices for those who prefer not to drink wine.
  Is there reserved seating?
No. The seating is general admission and will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis. The room is intimate and comfortable and all the tables have good sight lines to the stage.
Will I have to sit with strangers?
Perhaps. Due to the nature of sayCHEESE!, the tables are arranged in parties of five and six. Smaller and larger parties will definitely have to share tables.
